The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger award is given by bloggers to bloggers who inspire positivity and creativity in the blogging community. I am very honored to have been nominated.

I’d like to thank Sally G. Cronin of Smorgasbord – Variety Is The Spice Of Life for nominating me. Here’s a link to her latest post.

The rules for accepting the award are as follows:

  • Thank the Blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
Display the rules and The Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post.

Here are the questions given to me:

Can you tell us about yourself in 100 words or less? Ridiculous musichead.  Trivia lover.  I love everything about modern music and the connections it has.  I have a decent record collection that’s beyond well-organized.  I love the late 50s to early 70s music era.  I also love pie.

Can you tell us more about your blog in 100 words or less that would encourage people to follow you? Curated playlists revolving around themes drenched in garage rock and soul.  I’ll do themes based on holidays, trending topics, or other random ideas.  Each playlist has an instrumental intro, outro, and intermission music themed to the set.  I also feature a Set 4 Score in the 4th set of music that highlights lesser known bands for exposure.

What is the strongest memory from your childhood? I don’t know if it’s my strongest, but one of my earliest memories is dancing in the kitchen with my mom and singing along to The Black Crowes’ cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle” when I was about 4 years old.

Can you tell us more about where you live and why you call it home? St. Paul, MN, USA.  I was born just down the river in Red Wing.  It’s hard to leave home, even though I’ve sure tried!

Do you have someone in your family that is your role model? Most of my family is role model worthy.  I’d say my wife inspires me the most, though.

Is there a country that you have not visited but is on your wish list? Yes. All others.  I have been to Tijuana, Mexico, though.

Who is your favorite author and why?  Bob Dylan.  From poetry to lyrics to experimental literature.  Hands down.

What is your favorite meal? Dinner.

Who is your favorite musician and can you let us have a YouTube link so that we can listen to them? Again, Bob Dylan.  No YouTube link, but check out this Bob Dylan episode!

What is your favorite film and why? Into The Wild.  Yes, I know it’s a book too.  I love it’s overall story, aesthetic, soundtrack, and message.

If you could live in another time.. decade or century.. what would that be? 1967 Summer Of Love.  Ideally, I’d stick around until around ’72, but the assassinations, racism/sexism, Nixon, and Vietnam War might start to bum me out too much.  I’m only there for the music, man!

My 11 nominees are fellow bloggers in the playlist game (or almost).  Whether they focus on playlists or have only done one on occasion, I’m interested in their music choices and why they’ve made them.  I’ve linked to a playlist post of theirs.

And here are my questions for the nominees.

  1. What drives you to create a playlist?
  2. What is your favorite unofficially recognized holiday?
  3. If you were in charge of compiling a new Voyager Record type playlist, what are some songs/sounds YOU would send out into the Universe?
  4. Smooth or chunky peanut butter?
  5. What’s the last good deed you did for a stranger?
  6. Would you rather spend the rest of your life on a beach or on a farm?
  7. What’s your favorite playlist theme?
  8. If you had to die by lethal injection, what song would you blast into your headphones as you fade away?
  9. You get 3 guests alive or dead; who would you invite to dinner?
  10. What’s the best soundtrack album?
  11. Who inspires you to write your blog the most?

Thanks again Sally! This was fun.

Music Blogger. FMF is a playlist curated specifically to chosen themes. Think Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour meets Little Steven's Underground Garage.
